Reports to: Payroll and Benefits Manager
Position type:Permanent, 40 hours week

About the Team:
The Human Resources team helps to recognize and develop the talents, potential and calling of the individuals in our organization. Through Humans Resources expertise and best practices, we enable our staff to flourish,  so together we can achieve the mission of Power to Change (P2C). Our team supports the 10 ministries, 1 partner, and departments of P2C in providing guidance, resources, programs, and services.

About the Role:
The Payroll & Benefits Clerk will primarily be responsible to support accurate and timely payroll commits, as well as benefits administration. This exciting opportunity is for a high-capacity individual who likes to problem solve and wants to grow in the area of payroll and benefits while applying their skills serving the staff of Power to Change.
In this role, you will be responsible to achieve the following objectives:

Payroll Commit Preparation (50%)
  • Process employment contracts
  • Process employment changes such as salary, leaves and terminations (create ROEs)
  • Maintain and update vacation entitlement
  • Receive and transfer funds between ministries to staff members
  • Review and process taxable allowances
  • Authorize and process honorariums and non-resident honorariums
  • Ensure time punches, stat pay, and overtime pay is accurate
  • Commit payroll as a back-up for the Payroll and Benefits Manager
Ministry Leaders and Staff Support with Payroll and Benefits Information (30%)
  • Be a knowledge expert on our Sun Life benefits,  and Manulife RRSP plans 
  • Ensure staff receive the benefits and RRSP group plan information and updates
  • Enroll, update and terminate benefits as needed based on staff changes
  • Check donations, then run and send out semi-monthly salary reports to ministry leaders
  • Run reports on staff data (typically for special projects)
Other Administrative Tasks (15%)
  • Monitor and manage the payroll and benefits email inbox
  • Respond in a timely and accurate manner to all requests and  inquiries from our staff 
  • Reconcile monthly benefits billing, enter changes and adjustments into the payroll system, 
  • Maintain effective filing for payroll records
  • A/P for XN Bill and etc

Active participation in the following (5%)
  • Team meetings
  • Bible studies and prayer times
  • Other organizational/ team events and initiatives
  • Power to Change Day of Prayer (2x a year) 

About You:
  • You have a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for ministry
  • You have 1- 2 years minimum working experience in payroll related role
  • You have a post-secondary education in a related field
  • You have knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce ( considered an asset)
  • You have ministry or non profit experience (considered an asset)
  • You are able to work independently
  • You are able to navigate the Google Suite environment and are comfortable with learning new technologies and systems
  • You are able to multitask and stay organized
  • You are able to work well under pressure and are detail-oriented and accurate 
  • You are an effective problem solver in a fast-paced environment
  • You are highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • You are a people person with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
