The Role:

 

Our finance team is looking for a full-time or part-time Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to join our quickly growing and developing team at JD Sports Canada! Main responsibilities include processing timesheets and answering employee inquiries about payroll. Most importantly, you will ensure that all employees are compensated correctly and on time.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for stores, warehouse and office employees (Livestock, JD, and Size)
  • Ensure all store manager timesheets are entered correctly and authorized on a bi-weekly basis
  • Issuing and distributing pay-checks for all staff and employees
  • Analyze, reconcile, and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Respond to any employee inquiries regarding payroll in a timely matter
  • Handle benefit expenses, like insurance fees or paid time-off
  • Compiling and preparing payroll related reports for managements and audits
  • Year-end payroll reconciliation to ensure payroll balances and deductions have been accurate throughout the year
  • WCB, WSIB, CNESST and EHT monthly accruals and remittances
  • Assist in onboarding process in Dayforce ensuring all necessary employee info is complete on a timely basis
  • Coordinate with HR to manage the employee change process (new hires, termination)
  • Update salary and wage adjustments on employee profiles

Skills/Knowledge/Experience needed:

 

  • 1+ years of payroll experience
  • Experience in Dayforce is an asset
  • Post-secondary education in accounting, finance or a related field is an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Detail orientated and ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and research skills
  • Establishes effective organizational and planning skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality
