Role at a Glance

The Mechanical Engineer-in-Training will work under the supervision of licensed Engineers within the mechanical practice. This position focuses on developing mechanical engineering designs and solutions for new and existing building projects. You will be responsible for working directly with clients to ensure their needs are understood and met. You will also be responsible for coordinating with other internal and external design team members as applicable.

You will have the opportunity to receive great mentorship from our talented engineers and you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects from the following sectors:  Healthcare, Industrial, Food/Pharma, Commercial, Educational.

What You Will Do

Design and calculation of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and controls for mid-sized projects

Assist with heating and cooling load, piping and ductwork calculations and layouts

Coordination with equipment suppliers, contractors, and other design disciplines

Prepare specifications to supplement drawings in project bid packages

Support field reviews and answer coordination questions throughout construction

Assist in preparation of Revit models and drawings

Work directly with customers under guidance as required

What We Need

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a focus on Mechanical Engineering

Working knowledge of heat transfer, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics is an asset

Eligible to become a registered Engineer-in-Training (EIT) through PEO

Co-op/internship experience in an engineering consulting firm

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail
