The Glass Receiving Crane Operator Team Leader reports to the Shipping Supervisor of Protemp.  He or she is responsible for managing the operations and quality of the department, focusing on continuous improvement of product and service quality.


  • Operating the crane under supervision.
  • Inspecting the crane to ensure its safety.
  • Inspect machines and equipment daily, perform routine maintenance procedures and minor repairs as required and initiate additional repair requests from mechanics when necessary.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments/stakeholders.
  • Determine shipping priorities and assign work to the department based on delivery requirements.
  • Organize and direct the loading/unloading of material at the factory and the job site.
  • Prepare production and other reports where required.
  • Attend and contribute to production meetings.
  • Ensure the Plant Manager is informed daily about quality, quantity, personnel, safety and any other issues that require immediate attention.
  • Undertake projects as assigned by the Plant Manager to improve the operation.
  • Train and evaluate employees in job duties, safety procedures and company policies.
  • Investigate and deal with personnel issues.  Administrator progressive disciplinary action, when required.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.  Ensure safety rules and regulations are followed.  Ensure protective gear is worn as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • 5+ years related experience in a shipping department of a manufacturing facility.  Experience in a high volume environment is preferred.
  • Certified overhead crane operator experience is a mandatory requirement – 5-ton crane
  • Knowledge of legal requirements as well as shipping methods, procedures and practices.
  • Experience managing 3rd-party logistics providers.
  • Demonstrate leadership, problem solving, coaching, technical skills, interpersonal skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and process oriented skills.
  • Experience in dealing with personnel issues and issuing progressive discipline.
  • Ability to influence others and effectively work in a team.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
