Surepoint is looking for an E & I Purchaser to join our team in Grande Prairie or Fort St. John!

POSITION SUMMARY:  The E & I Purchaser is responsible for researching, evaluating, and purchasing for multiple locations to meet the operational needs. The ideal candidate will be a skilled negotiator that thrives in a fast-paced environment.  


  • Collaborate with operations teams to clarify purchase requisitions, identify location needs, and continuously improve specifications for future purchase orders.
  • Receives and processes internal and external customer requests for parts, materials, supplies and services.
  • Provides quotes, generates data, and responds to the other needs generated by orders, returns, contracts, and shipments.
  • Prepares and issues purchase orders.
  • Leverages technical knowledge of electrical and instrumentation as well as experience in parts management and coordination.
  • Reviews intercompany inventories to fulfill orders internally where possible.
  • Establishes productive working relationships and effective communication with sales, operations, and support functions throughout the organization.
  • Reviews customer requests for quotes and determines the best value solution to align with customers’ requirements, and timeline while working closely with the operations teams.
  • Compiles and maintains information and records required including material records, prices, inventory and delivery records.
  • Maintains customer information database; enters/tracks internal requisition for parts transfers.
  • Continuously exploring and providing solutions to improve company spending and outsourcing.
  • Determine the best approach to process purchase requisitions considering cost, timeliness, competitive bidding, and existing contracts.
  • Solve problems in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Develop cost effective purchasing strategies.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery, and compliance to terms of contracts.
  • Monitor progress of delivery schedules.
  • Understands supply chain best practices and principles in accordance with procurement and materials management.
  • Actively participates in the Safety Program.

Required Skills, Experience or Competencies:

  • Previous experience in electrical and instrumentation purchasing. 
  • Journeyman Parts Person Certification is an asset. 
  • Previous experience with inventory management is an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Office, advanced Excel skills, previous experience with inventory software, order processing systems, Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains preferred.
  • Experience creating competitive quotes.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, initiative and a commitment to quality.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills – written and verbal.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience in supplier management - building relationships, conducting evaluations, monitoring non-conformances
  • Consistently looks for opportunities for improvement to the processes.
