About the opportunity: 

Reporting to the Director, Risk Modelling and Analytics (RMA), the Senior Analyst, RMA is accountable for supporting the Model Risk Management function within the company. Using large datasets and programming language, this role goes in-depth with data and statistical analyses to provide helpful insight to senior management.

Key Enterprise Risk Management accountabilities include the support of the Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk Management Frameworks, and the quarterly preparation of the CRO Report for the Risk & Compliance Committee and quarterly Board meetings.

What you will be responsible for: 
  • Perform independent validation of models owned by other functions within the organization, such as financial budget model, risk rating models, and cash flow models
  • Run IFRS 9 program and ECL models
  • Run ICAAP and stress testing models
  • Manage policies and documentations related to Model Risk Management and Recovery Plan
  • Assist Enterprise Risk Management, Credit Risk, and other functions with ad hoc analysis and model development
  • Promote risk awareness and risk culture across the organization
The work experience, skills, education that you bring to thrive: 
  •  Qualifications and Work Experience: 
    • Bachelor’s degree or post-secondary education related to risk management, data science, statistics, or math preferred 
    • 3-5 years of work experience in data analysis, data science, and modelling
    • Experience in R or similar programming languages required, such as Python and MATLAB
    • Exposure to lending practices in financial service industry is an asset
    • Exposure to IFRS 9, ICAAP, financial budget, or risk rating system is an asset
  • Skills and Abilities: 
    • Knowledge in statistical analysis (e.g. linear and nonlinear regression) is an asset
    • Proficiency in working with spreadsheets with large dataset
    • Strong analytical skill set with the ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate statistical results to senior management
    • Demonstrated ability to develop trusted collaborative working relationships across multiple stakeholders 
    • Willingness to learn new ideas and skills
