About the opportunity: 
 
Reporting to the Director Credit Risk, the Manager/Senior Manager Credit Risk is responsible for managing the level of credit risk within MCAN via risk monitoring and reporting, transaction-level credit review, management of credit risk-related policies and procedures, oversight of the quality assurance activities, and supporting model risk management practices for the core business lines of Residential Lending and Construction/Commercial Lending.

What you will be responsible for: 
  • Assess credit risks and mitigation strategies to ensure MCAN operates within policy and risk appetite limits 
  • Recommend to the Director Credit Risk the approval/decline of escalated mortgage requests
  • Analyze credit policies in accordance with regulatory guidelines, make recommendations for approval, and operationalize policy changes
  • Produce and review reports identifying credit trends at the portfolio level and present findings to an Executive-level committee 
  • Complete Quality Assurance activities for Residential Lending mortgages and recommend enhancements to the QA program as required 
  • Monitor underwriting Exceptions and recommend enhancements to Exception Frameworks as required based on emerging trends  
  • Prepare quarterly Credit Risk reporting for Board of Directors 
  • Prepare and review of Regulatory reporting submissions 
  • Support the independent review and ongoing validation of risk rating models 
  • Provide Credit Risk-related constructive challenge to business line recommendations for new products, services and initiatives 
  • Assist in timely and effective preparation for any Credit Risk-related internal or external audits  
  • Prepare training sessions as required to further promote MCAN’s Risk Culture across the enterprise
The work experience, skills, education that you bring: 
  • Qualifications and Work Experience: 
    • Business, finance, or math-related University degree preferred or an equivalent blend with a minimum of 5-8 years relevant work experience in a risk-related function within financial services industries
    • Direct experience with lending to personal/retail borrowers or commercial borrowers, or preferably both
  • Skills & Abilities: 
    • Well-developed writing skills sufficient to precisely articulate ideas that involve interpretation, analysis and assessment of complex conceptual subjects
    • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills
    • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to synthesize information into key messages
    • Ability to make sound decisions and suggest appropriate recommendations to senior management 
    • Demonstrated ability to develop trusted collaborative working relationships across multiple stakeholders 
    • Highly focused attention to detail and drive to deliver high-quality results
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
