ROLE PURPOSE

This position will perform cleaning related tasks necessary to ensure that resident's rooms are safe, clean and that common areas are as attractive and clean as possible. Perform a variety of duties in relation to the preparation and distribution of meals and the cleaning of dining room areas to the required standard..

 

STATUS

Non-unionized / Excluded / This position is open to applicants of all genders.

 

HOURS

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours during the daytime, evenings, and weekends based on operational needs and requirements.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • General cleaning tasks including:
    • Vacuuming
    • Dusting
    • Washing floors
    • Washing windows
    • Cleaning bathrooms
    • Changing beds
  • Participate in the preparation and assembly of meals by performing simple tasks such as making toast, preparing beverages, etc  
  • Check and collect laundry from residents, and from Bedford Manor
  • Perform all duties in relation to the distribution of food
  • Ensure food is served in accordance with the dietary requirements of the residents
  • Collect garbage
  • Move furniture as required to clean
  • Transport and move supplies and equipment
  • Assist in the dining room and laundry room as required
  • Utilize cleaning supplies and products in accordance with established procedures
  • Responsible for bringing up supplies from storerooms – making sure carts and supply areas are stocked
  • Ensure cleaning equipment and supplies are stored in a safe and efficient manner
  • Report any situations that may be considered unsafe or a health risk
  • Attend staff in-service and continuing education programs, and approved work-related conferences and seminars


EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work within a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. The ideal candidate has:

  • Minimum grade 12 education
  • Experience working with seniors, preferably in a home or community setting
  • Must be in good health, free from any communicable diseases and physically and mentally able to carry out the assigned duties in the working environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English


REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to successfully complete Criminal Records Checks
  • Food Safe level 1
  • WHMIS
  • Must be able to prove vaccine status against Covid-19 or medical exemptions
  • Must be able to provide a negative Tuberculous test
  • Must be able to provide your complete vaccination record


COMPENSATION

Range is $15.70 to $18.35 per hour

Important: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, observe their weekly hours limit if under a temporary or study visa, and provide proof of eligibility if selected for the role.
