The Office of Strategic Engagement in the Corporate Affairs, Strategic Policy and Planning Division of the AGCO is seeking a Senior Advisor, Strategic Engagement.  In the midst of significant change in the alcohol, gaming, horse racing and recreational retail cannabis industries, the AGCO is pursuing a number of strategic priorities to enable the organization to deliver the most innovative, cost-effective and compliance-focused regulatory services on behalf of the people of Ontario.

 

The AGCO operates among a vast and growing network of stakeholders and partners including regulated businesses and individuals, regulatory and law enforcement agencies in Canada and internationally, non-profit entities dedicated to research and public interest advocacy and industry associations, among others. A critical determinant of the AGCO’s achievement of its strategic priorities will be its ability to successfully engage, solicit and harness the cooperation, collaboration, resources and wisdom of the public and third-party stakeholders and partners.

 

The Senior Advisor, Strategic Engagement, will play a key role in developing and delivering on AGCO’s strategic, enterprise-wide approach to engagement of the public and stakeholder community in the various regulated industries. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Engagement, they will deliver research, analysis, strategic engagement advice and logistical support in relation to the AGCO’s strategic priorities, including ongoing efforts to build and strengthen key AGCO stakeholder relationships across a diverse networks, including partnerships with provincial, national and international partners.  The successful candidate will be part of a team dedicated to supporting strategic priorities by developing and fostering ongoing agency support for and use of a consistent AGCO stakeholder engagement framework.  They will be expected to work across the organization to perform a range of engagement activities, including stakeholder impact assessments, targeted public and stakeholder engagement plans, engagement activities and complex multi-stakeholder consultation and collaboration projects, as well administering the Education, Training and Awareness Fund.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Extensive professional experience in stakeholder relations and policy analysis/development developed through a combination of the successful completion of academic or professional training and relevant work experience;
  • Knowledge of current issues and trends in the relevant industries from a domestic and international standpoint;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex projects that involve intensive internal and external engagement;
  • Intuitive and creative thinking skills with a strong commitment to solving complex problems through collaboration, engagement and consensus building;
  • A high level of integrity, professionalism and commitment to public service;
  • Demonstrated analytical and strategic acumen and superior writing capabilities;
  • Ability to multi-task across a number of key projects and successfully manage competing priorities;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the strong ability to work collaboratively both inside and outside of an organization; and,
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
